Learning to Sketch - Drawing Classes with Nicky Bell 

Drawing is not just about pencil to paper, Nicky will show you how to combat the fear of drawing through studying still life and found objects encouraging you to draw for pleasure and enjoyment using achievable methods.

Each session there will be a themed set up of seasonal and found objects (foliage, bottles, shells, pebbles etc.) to study and draw. 

Each class will focus on a different drawing mediums including : 

Pencil, uses of the pencil, how to hold it, mark making using a pencil.  Tonal value (light and shade), how to stop your drawings look flat and observational skills.

Charcoal and chalks, what type of charcoal, willow, compressed and pencil.  Contouring, smudging and blending.  Wear old clothes or bring and apron or old shirt, charcoal is a little messy,

Ink,dip-pens and water soluble fine liners , getting loose and creative and adding a little water wash on.  Learning that less is more by adding a little fluidity.

It is recommended that you attend a number of these classes in order to make improvement in your sketching technique, but not required.
